Even though my high school counselor suggested I go into public relations, it took my 14 years to figure out that it was my passion. I love to tell my client's stories through traditional and social media. The excitement that the clients have when I am able to understand their uniqueness and get that out to their potential clients makes me love what I do. I may not always succeed, but then I try again!
I am a native Houstonian, widowed, with one stepson and his wife and two granddaughters. I have a degree in Journalism and I worked in a television newsroom for 15 years, giving me insight to how the reporters think and work. I worked as the director of public relations for 8 years at a local hospital. Now, I'm back doing my own business! I am the "mother" of four felines all rescued. I love my life and I love what I do, it doesn't get much better than that!
I am an avid murder mystery fan, whether real or fiction. I listen to audiobooks for my fun but read business focused books. I enjoy my flowers and even a few fruit trees and herbs. I love to travel whether by plane, cruise ship or automobile.
The perfect referral includes several things, someone that is the decision maker at the company (or the individual I will work for) and that person has a basic knowledge of public relations. That knowledge includes the realization that public relations is a combination of the public and its relationship with it. Location is not an issue since public relations can be done for anywhere. I like working with companies that have one employee to 1,000.
Qualifying Questions: What are three questions we can ask clients to help pave the way for a referral? List them here.
- Do you have any events, awards, fundraisers, or information the public needs to know about?
- Are you interested in being known as an expert in your field? Would you like media to use you as a source?
- Do you need articles written or content for your website, bio updated, or award applications submitted?
