What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
I became a professional organizer because I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, and how powerful it is when your space finally feels calm, functional, and like you. I started Happy Home Organizing after leaving teaching, wanting to continue helping people in a more personal way. For me, it’s not just about organizing stuff, it’s about creating space for people to breathe, to heal, and to move forward with intention. Helping others let go and feel proud of their space is what truly motivates me. -

1. "Is your home feeling like it’s supporting you or adding to your stress?"
This question gently reveals whether clutter or disorganization is impacting their daily life. If their home is a source of stress, it’s a great time to introduce Happy Home as a calm, compassionate solution.
A good follow-up to that is "Would it feel helpful to have someone walk alongside you and help simplify things?"
This frames the referral in a supportive, collaborative way. It reduces the fear of judgment and emphasizes that your role is to help, not criticize.
2. “Do you have an upcoming move or are you thinking about selling your home?”
This opens the door for referrals related to packing, decluttering, or unpacking support.
A good follow-up to that is "Would it feel helpful to have someone support you in your move?"
3. “Are you or someone close to you going through a big life transition?”
Think divorce, new baby, loss of a loved one, retirement, or becoming an empty nester. All of these create emotional and physical overwhelm that Happy Home can help manage.

About me
Hi, I’m Melissa. I’m open-minded, intentional, and always up for a good time. I love connecting with people and am not afraid to strike up a chat with a stranger. I genuinely enjoy getting to know people.
I live in Fort Collins with my husband and our two dogs, Franklin and Teddy, who basically run the house. I grew up outside of Philadelphia but have called Colorado home for over a decade. I still get excited about patio weather and a good mountain view.
My ideal weekend is a mix of productivity and play. I enjoy checking a few things off the list, spending time with my people (dogs included), and making space for fun or something spontaneous. I’m naturally extroverted and feel recharged around others, but I’ve also learned how important it is to carve out some quiet time, too.
I value honesty, balance, and doing things that make a difference. If you appreciate authenticity, a little humor, and genuine connection, we’ll probably get along just fine. -
