We learned firsthand how costly it can be to make important business and financial decisions while relying on advice you don't fully understand. That experience shaped how we built Svarog.
We believe good tax advice should do more than produce a favorable result this year. A recommendation should be researched, properly implemented and documented, and it should continue to make sense in the years that follow.
We want our clients to understand their options, the reasoning behind our recommendations, and the risks as well as the opportunities. Sometimes good planning produces significant tax savings. Sometimes the best decision is not to pursue a tax benefit at all.
Our goal is to give clients the clarity and confidence to make informed decisions that hold up.
About me
I’m Elena Filina, Managing Director and Tax Advisor at Svarog Tax Services. I’m FCCA qualified and spent 24 years at ExxonMobil, primarily in internal audit and internal controls. That background trained me to ask a lot of “why” questions: Why is this structured this way? What supports it? What are we missing? What could go wrong?
Today I bring that same mindset to tax advisory. My husband, Dmitry Dmitrenko, CPA, owns Svarog, and together we work with business owners and investors whose financial lives have become too complex for one decision or one tax return at a time.
Outside of work, I’m a mother of three and love traveling with my family, especially exploring new cultures, history, and food. Our household also includes a Maine Coon, a bearded dragon, three guinea pigs, and roughly 400 roaches. The roaches are bearded-dragon food, which I feel is important to clarify.
