About me
David Karohl grew up in St. Louis and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from MIT with degrees in German and Chemical Engineering. In his 13 years at Solvay, he brought the technology to make the bleach in Tide with Bleach to America as Process Engineer and Plant Mananger, was Engineering Manager for the hydrogen peroxide division, expanded the semiconductor grade hydrogen peroxide business, and founded a new business to produce and sell powerful, environmentally friendly, disinfectants. While working for Carbon Nanotechnolies, founded by Nobel prize winner Richard Smalley, he closed the world’s first sales of commercial quantities of single-wall carbon nanotubes (“Buckytubes”).
David is a Jones Scholar graduate of the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, during which he authored the first Go To Market plan for Reliant Energy in the commercial and Industrial markets in 2000. In 2009, he founded My Best Plan, which ensures that residential customers in Texas always have the best electricity plan for their homes.
David is an Eagle Scout, former president of his church's non-profit foundation, and a member of the Breakfast Association. He speaks fluent German and French, and enjoys golf, squash, ballroom dancing, growing carnivorous plants, and travel. He live in Houston with his 20-year old daughter, Isabel, a student at Rice University, and his 15-year old son, Christopher.
