Describe How You Would Like To Be Introduced Via Email
I'd really like to introduce you to Krystal Weiss, founder of AWK Travel.
Krystal is a Houston-based boutique travel advisor who helps people figure out the "why" behind their trip and then actually builds it around that. Her clients don't just come home with photos. They come home having connected with the destination, their partner, or themselves in a way that made the whole thing worth it.
She works with clients who are ready to stop winging it and want someone they trust to handle the details with care. If you know someone approaching a milestone, a retirement, an anniversary, a graduation, or just a long-overdue reset, Krystal is exactly who they should talk to.
She'd also love to connect with professionals who serve clients in major life moments. A conversation with her is always worth having.
Krystal can be reached at krystal@awktravel.com or 832.331.8338. I'll leave the connecting to the two of you!
What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
In 2022, I was planning my daughter's graduation trip to Thailand. I interviewed several travel advisors, and most of them came back with options that felt generic. Fine, but not us.
Then I met one who did something different. He asked questions. Real ones. He wanted to know who we were as a family, what we actually enjoyed, what would make this trip feel like ours. For the first time in that process, I felt seen and heard.
I remember thinking: I want to do that for people.
That moment is why AWK Travel exists. I started part time in 2023 while wrapping up a career in public education, and went full time in June 2025. And the through line from teaching to travel advising is shorter than people expect: both are about helping people grow, connect, and come home changed in some way.
My why is simple. I want every client to have the experience I had in that conversation, and then carry it with them through the whole trip. To feel like the trip was built for them, because it was.
Qualifying Questions: What are three questions we can ask clients to help pave the way for a referral? List them here.
"Have you been saying you need a trip but just haven't had the time or energy to figure it out?"
(The person who keeps putting it off because planning feels overwhelming is exactly who I helps.)
"Do you have a big milestone coming up, like a retirement, anniversary, graduation, or birthday, that deserves more than a Google search?"
(Milestone moments are my sweet spot. If something meaningful is on the horizon, that's the referral.)
"Have you ever come back from a trip feeling like it was fine, but not quite what you were hoping for?"
(That "fine but not quite right" feeling is the gap I closes. Someone who's had that experience is ready for a different approach.)
Unique Selling Proposition
I specialize in milestone travel, and I think that means something different than most people expect.
Milestone trips carry weight. A retirement, a graduation, an anniversary, a big birthday... these aren't just vacations. They're moments people have been building toward, sometimes for years. The logistics matter, but so does everything underneath them.
What I do is hold both. I handle the details so nothing falls through the cracks, and I pay attention to the human side of the trip so the experience actually matches the moment it was meant to celebrate.
That's what makes the difference between a trip that was nice and a trip that was right.
About me
My background is in public education, which means I spent years learning how to actually listen to what people need, not just what they say they want. That skill translated directly into travel advising.
I founded AWK Travel because I believe travel is one of the most powerful ways we connect with ourselves, with the people we love, and with the world. But too many people come home from a trip they've saved for years feeling like they just ran through a highlight reel.
My sweet spot is milestone travel: retirements, anniversaries, graduations, big birthdays. These trips carry real emotional weight, and they deserve someone who understands that the logistics and the human side of the experience are equally important.
I'm a Certified Travel Advisor and Virtuoso affiliate, based in Houston, and I work directly with every client, no team, no call center, no booking bot.
As one of my clients put it: "It's not just the budget, but what our goals are."
Reading is one of my greatest loves! I am in several book clubs and love audio and print books of all genres! I also love to play games that allow me to connect with others, like mahjong, rummikub, pickleball and dominoes. Although I don't drink caffeine, I love to visit locally owned coffee shops and bakeries,
