What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
At Mirus Academy, we provide an environment where teenagers are comfortable being themselves. They usually fall in love with learning again. We have mandatory recess for high school students. Who does that? Why do I do what I do? ... There are moments where I am teaching a valuable concept or fact and the students sometimes really 'get' what is being taught. Like it opens their eyes to something they have never thought of before. Those 'aha' moments are what I love most about what I do. -
About me
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State U. in 1995, majoring in Biology and Health Education. I spent most of my working life running my own business not related to education. In 2018, my mother-in-law wanted to retire from the private school she and my wife started in 2006. I wanted to get back into education, and this was my opportunity. I took over the business side of the school and started teaching again in 2018. I absolutely love teaching teenagers! The rest is history... -
