  • What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
    I am passionate about helping individuals and businesses with retirement planning, general investments and analysis, estate planning, tax planning, and education planning. I do this because planning for your retirement can be confusing, difficult, and overwhelming. It causes a great deal of anxiety, fear, stress, and uncertainty if you are not sure how to properly plan for your retirement. There are too many variables to consider such as, tax rates and implications, inflation rates, and longevity (out-living your money) just to name a few. I joined the financial industry thirty years ago and have become a professional who helps you organize your finances and projects the results of your savings and investments so you can see how well prepared you are for retirement. ... and help improve the quality of the financial decisions you make.

    Rene C. Tamez, a thirty year veteran in the insurance and financial services industry, is currently an Agency Vice President with One Houston Financial, a general agency appointed by the companies of OneAmerica. One Houston Financial was established in Houston in 2014 and utilizes an economics-based financial planning process, as well as other investment advisory services, that provides personalized solutions for individuals and business professionals who wish to protect, grow and efficiently distribute their wealth.
    Rene Tamez is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas with a degree in Business Management. He brings to One Houston Financial leadership experience in both property and casualty insurance and the financial services industry. Rene is an accomplished business leader with knowledge and experience overseeing all aspects of business operations. He has successfully hired, coached and developed talented teams of licensed professional financial advisors to serve multiple customer needs and provide consistently remarkable experiences.
    Rene Tamez is a member of GAMA (General Agents and Managers Association) International, an association dedicated to promoting the professional development needs and leadership skills of front-line leaders in the insurance, investment, and financial services industry. He is also a member of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) which represents the interest of insurance professionals by advocating for a positive legislation and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of its members.
    Rene Tamez’ professional development includes The Conference Board’s Gettysburg Leadership Development Program, The Chicago Booth School of Business Executive Education Critical Thinking: Theory and Practice Program, The Enterprise Leadership Development Program, Speakeasy Executive Communication Program, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. He received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 2012 and is currently completing his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation. He also holds the following industry licenses 6, 7, 26, 51, 63, 65, and Group 1 Life and Health.
    Rene Tamez is married to his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth. They have one daughter, Emily and two rescue dogs, Henlee and Jenni. Rene and his family are regular volunteers with Northwest Assistance Ministries, the Food Pantry, and Meals on Wheels. Rene enjoys traveling with his family, reading, sports, and woodworking.
