What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
After serving 26 years in the Army, I realized how much time I had sacrificed being away from my family. My “why” is simple: it’s about them. I do what I do so I can be present, create memories, and enjoy the time that military life often kept me from having.
Running That 1 Painter Colorado Springs gives me the chance to serve my community with the same values I lived by in the Army—honor, integrity, and hard work—while also giving me the freedom to prioritize my family. Every project I take on allows me to provide for them, but more importantly, it gives me the time to truly be with them. -

About me
I came to the United States from Vietnam in 1981 with my family, chasing the dream of a better life and greater opportunity. In 1995, I joined the U.S. Army, beginning a 26-year journey of service that took me across the world — to places like Germany, Poland, and Iraq. Along the way, I learned perseverance through challenges, the meaning of true service, and the importance of always putting others before myself.
When I retired, I knew I wasn’t done serving. But this time, it wasn’t about a uniform — it was about my community and my family. That’s why I started That 1 Painter Colorado Springs. Painting may seem like just walls, trim, and color, but to me, it’s about something more. It’s about creating homes people are proud of, building trust through respect and reliability, and going the extra mile to make sure every client feels valued.
My journey has always been about service. First, to my country. Now, to my neighbors. -
