  • What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
My purpose in life is to help others. God gave me a vision to help teenage mothers and since putting my hands to the plow with these young ladies, I have felt pure fulfillment! The work outside of engaging with them is very tedious and discouraging. But every time I see impact taking place in their lives, I know that it's all worth it.
  • About me
Inspired by Oprah Winfrey’s school for girls in Africa, Elisha Divinity Weatherton made a bold move in 2007 to birth the concept of Lovie’s Pearls, a non-profit organization created to empower teen moms. She is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Houston-based nonprofit organization. Elisha knew this was her “calling” as it became her God-given assignment to extend growth opportunities and educational resources to teen moms, as they re-focus their lives as mothers and create a positive future for themselves and their children. This is her life’s mission and passion. In 2012, after relocating to Houston, Texas and settling into her new life, Lovie’s Pearls became a reality. After much thought, prayer, and consideration, it was clear that she genuinely needed to honor her grandmothers who are credited for her determination and passion for serving others. Representing her maternal and paternal family history and culture, she landed on the names of her two grandmothers, Lovie and Pearlina. Combining these names gave the vision true meaning: love, and the way pearls are formed (through lots of irritation and determination). Over the next several years through studying, researching, and networking, various concepts and ideas were put to paper as the mission and vision materialized. Then the real work got underway as the organization began touching the lives of teen moms in the Houston Metropolitan Area.
Elisha’s volunteer experience includes Child Advocates, assisting children in foster care; countless hours pouring into the lives of children she has encountered; serving on and leading committees for various fundraisers, events, and projects. She is currently the Volunteer Coordinator for her church’s Anti-Hunger Food Fair.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Elisha obtained a degree in Public Administration with a minor in Criminal Justice from Cal State University, Dominguez Hills. She currently works in the wireless industry and is helping promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the company. Elisha enjoys traveling, singing, laughing, making great memories with her husband Reginald Weatherton, and spending quality time with her children, family, and friends. Her granddaughter, Maliah Marie, has rejuvenated her youthful spirit!
